The Ausangate mountain range, located in the Cordillera Vilcanota is one of the most inhospitable Andean highlands of Peru and extraordinary. Within the Andean world view is considered "APU" or elevated mountain range angel that lives in the snow. The Ausangate is the highest representative of the Andes from Cusco. Forms a large massif with several peaks surrounding the main peak located at 6.372 m. The turquoise lagoons, vast high plains and forests of stone and turn the area into a paradise lunar totally isolated from modernity. Walking around the Ausangate is an indescribable adventure, in which it is impossible not to marvel at the beauty of sunsets and the eternal snows. It is common to find needles of rock which rise to more than five thousand feet and with ice that fall from a dizzying pace and form glacial lakes.
The Ausangate circuit is one of the great attractions of Cusco, but is still a place rarely visited.
